I am excited to announce my candidacy for State Senate in Virginia’s newly created 22nd District. I am asking for your support!
I was raised in Louisa and began my service to America in the Army. I became friends with some of the finest people I know when I got involved in politics to help elect Bill Janis and I have the support of many of those people and many others throughout the district. Over the coming days I want to add your name to this list.
You may not know that in 2007, I entered public service in a new way. In my home of Louisa County, I challenged and defeated a two term incumbent for the office of Commonwealth’s Attorney. It was the first time in decades that an incumbent countywide office holder had been defeated. We didn’t just win, we won by seventeen percent! In fact, we did all of this as the first Republican countywide candidate to win since Reconstruction.
We won that race with hard work, and with a positive vision. The core of that vision was that we can do better. In fact, we can do better without spending more of your money! In the years since 2007, Louisa has instituted the most aggressive initiative to crackdown on child sex predators in the state, if not the nation. We’ve secured record setting sentences against those who victimize children. Two such sentences were of over one hundred years, and several others were for life. Two defendants recently testified that if they had known they were in Louisa, they wouldn’t have committed their crimes. The message is out! These successes were achieved without a single new hire, or additional expense to the Sheriff’s office or to the prosecutor’s office.
Now I want to do that for the 22nd Senate District. WE CAN DO BETTER! I believe the following things: First, we do not have a revenue problem, we have a SPENDING PROBLEM! Second, the CONSTITUTION is as relevant now as the day it was drafted. ALL RIGHTS, including the Second Amendment and the Tenth Amendment, should not be infringed upon. Finally, the FAMILY and the FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM are the fiber of American society. Government interference, regulation, and intrusion stifle growth, prosperity and family cohesion.
